Arching over a power pole, Mesquite tree, and an empty cotton field is the brightest and closest rainbow I've ever seen. I posted a photo of the other end of it about a week ago and shared the story of the day I saw it. This was actually a double rainbow but the second set of colors were barely visible next to the vibrant colors of the main rainbow.
From my back porch I could see where both ends touched the ground, each about 500 yards away. It looked as though you could walk right up to it and stand in the colors. This was the perfect pick-me-up for an otherwise gloomy winter day in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona in December, 2012.
